Beware of Increased Hacking Activity 2021

Published / Last Updated on 06/05/2021

We have experienced increased suspicious online activity over the last two weeks with rogue contacts and emails using the Russian alphabet with dubious email addresses and website URL links.  These were very simple and obvious attempts, clearly designed for the receiver to easily fall foul and be hacked.

  • Do not click on anything you are not sure about.
  • Go via a different route to verify any actions on your email, banking and other online activities.
  • Beware of “Caller ID” on your incoming calls and texts, they can be easily impersonated.
  • Update your log in details, passwords, memorable words and PINs regularly across all your online services.
  • Do not use obvious security answers such as names, relatives dates of birth or other.  Use random letters, numbers and symbols.

If you are not sure, DO NOT CLICK.
